Service groups are the union’s primary industrial structure, where members get to organise with other members in the same sector. Every single UNISON member will belong to one of its 7 service groups:

• local government

• community

• higher education

• health

• water, environment & transport

• police, probation & CAFCASS

• energy

Each service group has an executive committee that is responsible for making strategic decisions on their sector’s priorities, both within the union and externally. They also play a key role in the pay awards we win for members.

In 2026, all 7 Service Group Executives (SGEs) have elections, with all seats up for grabs.

In these important elections, vote for candidates who are committed to:

• Building a service group that delivers on your pay and your working conditions.

• Changing the way our union operates by promoting organising, using our collective strength and worker power.

• Supporting Andrea Egan, our General Secretary, and her bold, radical programme for our union.

• No longer placing the interests of the Labour Party first; UNISON members will be our focus.

The ballot opens on 1st April 2026 and runs until 13th May 2026.
