A branch guide to nominating in UNISON’s NEC elections

UNISON has published its election procedures for the 2023 NEC elections, including the timetable. It’s no exaggeration to say these are the most important UNISON NEC elections ever and are bound to be keenly contested by those who had their grip loosened on UNISON by the victory of Time For Real Change in the NEC Elections in 2021.

Time For Real Change has made a lot of progress since then, despite a serious and organised push back from those who are resistant to change in our union. We will be highlighting our achievements during our campaign, but of course explaining how we want to go further and build a union that is fit for purpose and organises our members to win.

It is vital that all branches and activists that want to see a changed, improved and fighting union begin to organise now for these elections.

Key dates for your branch: nominations can only take place at meetings held in the nomination period of Monday 9 January to Monday 13 February.

Time For Real Change has produced our own document on the process for nominating candidates for the forthcoming NEC elections, which can either be downloaded or read below. We must secure the maximum number of nominations that we can possibly achieve. Please read this thoroughly, share it with comrades in your branch and get in touch if you have any questions.
